9:18 pm "NewsWrap": "NewsWrap": LGBT organizations join other advocacy groups around the world marking the 60th anniversary of the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights, while a landmark statement spearheaded by France calling for countries to keep LGBT people safe – supported by nearly every Western country except the U.S., and opposed by the Vatican – is expected to be submitted to the U.N. General Assembly sometime soon; Turkey's Supreme Court upholds the right of the country's leading LGBT rights group, Lambda Istanbul, to exist; in the U.S., Iowa's Supreme Court becomes the latest to hear a marriage equality lawsuit, a New Hampshire legislator vows to introduce a marriage equality bill next year, and a New Jersey commission concludes that the state's 2-year-old civil unions law has been a failure, and that only marriage can provide full equality to same-gender couples; "Milk," the biopic about the joyful rise and tragic demise of the pioneering gay San Francisco Supervisor, wins accolades from several critics groups, but Italian TV censors the broadcast of "Brokeback Mountain"; and the Lesbian and Gay Band Association will be the first-ever openly-queer contingent to march in a presidential inaugural parade following Barack Obama's swearing in on January 20th (written by GREG GORDON, with thanks to REX WOCKNER with BILL KELLEY, and reported this week by TANYA KANE-PARRY and LEIGH MOORE) [10:41] + Billboard for Amy Ray feature

10:02 pm Insurance: Three months since Hurricane Ike and homeowners are more confused than ever about their options for dealing with damage to their homes. They are bombarded with door to door salespeople, TV ads for Hurricane Ike attorneys and other advertising, and it all just seems to add to their confusion. Regrettably, this confusion is causing homeowners to lose millions of dollars on their claims because taking no action often seems a better choice to the homeowner than taking the wrong action. Homeowners just want to know the answer to “What should I do?”
“There are two problems for most homeowners with damage claims,” according to Don Sanders and Jose Jimenez, co-owners of Project Management Professionals in Houston. “The first problem is that most people think they have only two options—settle or sue. The second problem is that they are afraid that if they don’t accept what the insurance company offers, their insurance rates will go up dramatically, or worse, their policy will be canceled.”
